Physicochemical Properties: Magnesium oxide white amorphous powder, odorless, smell-less and nontoxic. It is soluble in acid and ammonium salt solution, difficult to dissolve in water, and insoluble in alcohol. And can be changed into crystal by high-temperature burning above 1000℃, and into dead-burned magnesium oxide or sintered magnesium oxide above 1500℃. When meeting with carbon dioxide in the air, it shall produce basic magnesium carbonate.

Use: Magnesium oxide used in pharmaceutical industry as anti-acid agent and laxatives, for gastric acid too much and duodenal ulcer; and often used together with calcium carbonate easily causing astriction; and meanwhile can be used as synthetics and intermediates and additives in other chemical industry.
